Ferrite core transformer is an electrical device used to regulate high-frequency power. It usually consists of an iron core(ferrite core) and at least two coils, one of which is connected to the input power supply and the other to the output load. Through the principle of electromagnetic induction, high-frequency signals in the input power supply can be converted, amplified or reduced into signals suitable for load use.

 

Ferrite core transformer operates using the same basic principles as standard transformers. The primary difference is that, as their name implies, they operate at much higher frequencies - while most line voltage transformers operate at 50 or 60 Hz, high frequency transformer use frequencies from 20 KHz to over 1MHz.

 

 

Application

 

Ferrite core transformer are typically used in electronic power applications to convert one DC input voltage to a different DC output voltage. The amount of power delivered can be controlled by varying the switching frequency and duty cycle of the switching transformer. There are a variety of circuit topologies that use switching transformers.
